This is the row that matters on this particular page, so it gets its own section rather than one line in a table. Both products take bad bandwidth seriously. They take it seriously in opposite directions.
Onsight keeps the video alive
Bandwidth adaptive streaming is their signature, documented down to rates a browser will not sustain a call at. If the requirement is live motion on a link that thin, they solved it and we did not.
Proofwalk gives up the video and keeps the job
Quality steps down on measured round trip and packet loss. Past the point where video is worth having, the session becomes full resolution photos and chat rather than a call nobody can use.
Evidence quality does not follow the stream
Photos are captured at the camera's own resolution, not grabbed off a downgraded video frame. A session running at 360p still produces a serial plate you can read.
Photos survive a dead zone
A failed upload queues on the phone, survives the page closing, and drains when the signal returns. Onsight treats offline capture as a designed mode rather than a recovery path, which is the stronger version.

The environment rules out a consumer phone
Intrinsically safe areas, sites where cameras are controlled, work that needs hands free. A browser link is no help if the device itself is the problem, and hardened hardware is what they do.
Live motion is non-negotiable on a very thin link
If the specialist has to watch something move in real time over satellite or a heavily contended link, our answer is to stop sending video and send photographs. Theirs is to keep sending video. Theirs is better.

Which one handles a bad connection better?
At the extreme, Onsight. Its bandwidth adaptive streaming is a signature capability and it is documented running at rates far below what a browser will hold a call at. Proofwalk steps quality on measured round trip and packet loss, and when video is not viable at all it falls back to full resolution photos and chat rather than dropping the session. Different answers to the same problem: theirs keeps the video alive, ours accepts that video is gone and keeps the job moving.
Do we need special hardware?
Not for Proofwalk. It runs in the browser on whatever phone the technician already has. Onsight supports rugged devices and smart glasses, which is a real advantage in environments where a consumer phone is not allowed or not practical, and something we do not attempt.
Does Proofwalk work when the technician goes offline entirely?
Photos taken during a session queue on the phone and send themselves when the signal returns, surviving the page being closed. The live call itself ends when the connection does. Onsight offers offline capture as a designed capability rather than a recovery path.
Can it be used for supporting customers rather than technicians?
Yes. The session does not care who is holding the phone. The checklist and sign-off machinery matters less on a support call, and the session record still matters.
What happens to our evidence if we leave?
It is yours. Reports stay readable through your notice period, and you get a copy of every session, photo and report before the account closes.
